A VAST IMPROVMENT

From the prior episode...I was one of the people who rated that episode ZERO stars thinking who else co-wrote the script, especially the last few scenes...people from the MARXIST OUTLET Black Lives Matter, Joy Reid, the so-called Reverends Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson?! Maxine Watters, Sheila Jackson Lee?! The Squad? ANYWAY...I digress. This episode, which I saw Saturday thanks to WPIX's airing of a Yankees game (which they won!), was quite the ride. To me Jesse and his accents and quirks were a winner. Brainy brought the comedy and that dragon? HOLY TIC TAC DOUGH! (Hope you guys get the game show reference, as I am reading about rumors that classic show of the 1970's and 80's could get a reboot). While it's good to see a comic accurate Guardian outfit, to me and some others Kelly is a waste of time and energy. There was no preview of the next episode Tuesday, instead I get one on PIX11 for a NY Sports show called The New York Blitz, and then one for the Season Premiere of LoT. That's Nextstar for you! OT...last Sunday AM, my 82-year-old mom fell in her bedroom and sprained her right rotator cuff. I had to drive her to the ER...and we were there for 5 hours-plus...all kinds of tests including one for Covid (was negative). She needs me to steady her and take her to appointments and such...so I might not be able to watch live the final few episodes.

First, I want to thank everyone for the cards, letters and flowers that were sent my way during my absence. 8) I just finished watching this episode and felt it was a fun ride to be on. This one had magic, humor and flashbacks which I enjoyed. Back in the old days I would have dropped a tab of orange sunshine to enhance the experience. Without a doubt I thought Nyxly's performance stole the show. Supergirl was front and center most of the time and once again showed why she's the star of the show. I had to laugh when Kelly showed up as the guardian to save the day. She's no more than a toy soldier and her presence take's away from the real super hero's.

Meanwhile Lena is a character who just randomly gets ridiculous unrelated powers thrown a her. She is clearly the much worse written and idiotic character who gets to be amazing in not one, but two fields, magic and science. Not only are her science powers completely ridiculous, but even though we KNOW she is not the only witch on earth immediately gets touted by the show as this amazing witch who could be equal to an imp, a character whose life revolves around magic and who exists specifically to be more powerful than Supergirl. And yet Lena who just learned about magic yesterday (mind totally unrelated to the current plot, it's not like the time intentionally went out and sought creative ways to counter the power of Nyxly, Lena just accidentally came across magic before being aware of Nyxly) is being hyped up for something they introduce with 10 episodes left in the show. Lena out-marysues Nia by miles. It's a huge double standard that Nia gets hated on while Lena gets a free pass. Calm down Thalolli - it is just a show. You stated all of that above and I still don't agree with you and no one should have greater power than the girl of steel on her own show. I don't like the character Nia and never will. We will just agree to disagree - I certainly am not going to argue with you over a show or a fictional character. Don't upset yourself so much - Feel better soon.

I noticed and it’s a legitimate choice with the rest of the outfit. I’ve noticed that Lena’s been dressed more casualty yet still stylishly since quitting Luthor Corp which makes sense. A killer pair of heels gives many women a confidence boost and Lena doesn’t need that when working with her friends. On the other hand it could’ve been unintentional. We know actors wear comfortable shoes when their characters shoes aren’t supposed to be in the shot, maybe Katie just forget and they just used it instead of reshooting. I’ve always loved Lena’s wardrobe.

It's not often I give 6 stars, but this episode earned it. The cast all brought their A game, especially Melissa, David, Jesse, Chyler, Katie, and Peta. I'm pretty sure that those suggesting that Kara's test relates somehow to saving Alex's plane and the decisions she made that night are correct. But having it be a choice between saving her or not seems a little too simple. I have to think that the solution is more complex. At least we now know that it will be revealed in future episodes. The whole totem quest storyline looks really interesting, and is made more so by Kara and Nyxly being linked. William being embedded with the Superfriends also could prove interesting as to their secret identities. The final episodes are looking like they will deliver some great stories. Did anyone notice that Lena was wearing sneakers? I thought that was rather interesting.

I could sign off on a story about how Kara doesn't have to save people all the time, is allowed to let other people get the save and is allowed to go on vacation and have fun. But that doesn't mean that this should be communicated with undercutting the show's most pivotal scene that made Kara Supergirl. The sad part is that I wouldn't even be surprised if they did it at this point. Would make it official how they have essentially thrown Kara and Alex's relationship under the bus the last few seasons. Last meaningful story they had together was in season 4. Nia is a character who was introduced as an alien with a specific powerset years ago and that powerset has been evolving over the years. Meanwhile Lena is a character who just randomly gets ridiculous unrelated powers thrown a her.
I follow your thinking but whatever it was, was suppose to be something that happened during the time of the flight at that time she was not shouldering any responsibilities because she wasn't SuperGirl yet. Nyxly in hers had to accept what was happening to her in order to win at getting the totem. The only thing I can think of that made Kara vulnerable at that time was her sister giving her the rundown of how wrong she was to do what she did and expose herself. However Kara did not accept what her sister said and told Winn the next day - I wonder if they are saying that she needed to listen to her sister and not expose herself to the world further. Kind of like how Nyxly was unthanked by her Father which he verbally let her know. Kara was unthanked by Alex which Alex verbally made known. Almost like the totem was saying it took more courage to accept their opinions than it did to ignore what they were saying and do what you want. That to me is still an odd way of thinking.

Harry Potter vibes the seven Totems = 7 Horcruxs. Plus the two rivals having a psychic connection. Good that we’ll find out why Kara failed the courage test. I don’t think it has to do with facing the press or where was Supergirl before that night. When Cat interviewed Supergirl she asked where Supergirl was during the last earthquake and fire and Kara’s answer was something like she took the decision seriously and she hadn’t been ready yet. I’m sure it has something to do with Alex but I can’t believe Kara was supposed to let her sister die. I was afraid they were foreshadowing Alex’s death in S6E8 and I’d be really scared after this episode if we didn’t know she’s in Armageddon. I believe Kara’s arc is to learn that she doesn’t have to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders, Zor-El said it in S6E8 and J’onn said it in this episode. Kara made the tough decision to lose the battle in order to win the war later and I appreciate that she made that call without hesitation. I feel we understand Nyxly better and I get why she feels the way she does. Looks like we’re getting previews now but I really want a new Supergirl key art.

Magical totems... they are a b****! Indeed! Fun episode. I had to get past how coincidentally the totem of Courage just happened to be in National City... perhaps it was predestined? Also, Lena is coincidentally working with a Kryptonian Witch! Talk about timing! But.. a fun episode. That iguana dragon is always welcome. I loved Kara's expression(s) watching courage bound Alex and expressive J'onn in action. I also think Kara tethered to Nyxly can potentially reap rewards in upcoming episodes. Those Nyxly flashbacks were an added bonus. I do wish we could have saw the deep dream state Nia apparently entered off screen. I also think they could have done more with the reverse vortex that Kara, J'onn and Brainy created. I am not sure about William tagging along with the Superfriends, but he needs something to do. It would have been cool if the totem of Courage was somehow connected with Kate Kane, the Paragon of Courage. I got other Paragon vibes when Nyxly couldn't understand why Kara felt hope, being she [Kara] is the Paragon of Hope.

In my opinion - the closeness and relationship that exist with the sisters is one that should not be in the writer's mind to fool around with. It was the main thing that brought me to the show and I loved the message it gave. It showed young kids that even though they may be adopted it is definitely possible to be loved by an adopting family as if you were born into it. It was bad enough when they had Alex's memory wiped for practically a whole season and Kara was devastated to not only lose her sister but have her sister attack everything she did as SuperGirl as if she had a grudge against her. I definitely think that not saving her sister was what the totem was indicating by failing SuperGirl each time. I do hope that is as far as it goes. However, I have seen much bad writing at times - that I count nothing out. I would like to leave the show with a happy thought and any separation of the two sisters would be a severe disappointment and I would hope the writers would know that and refrain from doing any twisted writing. Another thing for me is that I am now tired of seeing Kelly. Kelly is taking up a good amount of time and for me she is not that good an actress - I would rather see more time spent on Alex and Kara. These are the ending episodes and the writers still don't seem to get what their audience is asking for. However as I stated below - this was a good and funny episode that I did enjoy- My favorite episodes so far are this one (The Gauntlet), the Welcome Back Kara episode, the end of Fear Knot when Kara and her father are rescued and Mxy in the Middle.

Even if they want to go for that ending, there are nicer ways to do it and have it feel satisfying and not be abrasive by giving viewers the visual of Kara having to let Alex die and undermining one of the most important and beloved scenes of the show. Like there is a big difference between telling a story where Kara says goodbye to her sister for a while and playing around with the idea that in order to be heroic Kara should not save a person like Alex. Even if it is fake. If Kara were to leave I'm sure the message would be that Alex and Kelly can take care of themselves, but are they going to do what, indicate that Kara saving Alex was unnecessary because Alex could somehow stopped the plane from crashing when we know that that was never the case before? I think that would be a terrible way to resolve the test.

I go back to season 4 right before J'onn took away Alex's memories of Kara being Supergirl. It was heartbreaking when Kara cried hoe the reason she became Supergirl was to save Alex. This also makes me wonder something else. There is all these rumors and speculation that Supergirl is going to leave earth at the end of the series.Either to go to the future with the Legion or go to Argo and I now wonder if part of that is connected to letting Alex go and sort of freeing Kara or making it okay to move on. We know Alex will have Kelly(and maybe more) when the series ends and that Alex is involved in the Flash 'Armageddon' event kicking off Flash Season 8.It's hard to imagine Supergirl not involved in fighting a threat like Despero especially if her sister is involved in that fight. The logical explanation is that Kara is not on earth or in this time to help. I will admit I find the idea of Kara leaving all her friends and family as the end of the series depressing(I felt the same when she left for Argo in season 3 but knew that wasn't going to be more than a episode or two) especially if it's tied to letting Alex go.Maybe if there is a promise from Kara that she'll be back or visit even if we never see it onscreen,I'll feel better about that sort of ending.

I loved this episode - it is one I will watch a number of times. These were the things that stood out most for me: 1. Vita - what a trip - this is definitely a witch with an attitude - you can't help but like her and it was so funny when she went into Brainy's body. Have to admit Brainy is a very versatile character. 2. SuperGirl failing her test - I am in definite agreement with those who feel it is because she needed to let Alex go. She needed to not save the plane. She therefore would not have Alex in her life and would have been vulnerable - for Kara to be without her sister is not even conceivable to her, it would take tremendous courage to make that decision -it was so impossible a thought that it would not occur to her it could be the reason for not passing. 3. Nyxly really was betrayed and you can really understand why she is so bitter in the present. Now I really do believe that she wanted SuperGirl as a partner when in the PZ but her anger and twisted thinking made it impossible for SuperGirl to chance her presence on earth. 4. J'onn was soooo good with the way he was reasoning and giving out compliments - I was really laughing and Alex was just as bad with her great amount of courage - enough to face and fight a dragon. 5. Andrea needs to get her arse out there and get the story since she know what it is she wants and she thinks it is so easy. She is not boss material - hope she doesn't remain head of the paper. 6. It was great seeing Kara and Lena back together again fighting on the same side. I think being separated made their friendship even stronger. 7. Perhaps some things shown on Canadagraphs will be occurring in the world of magic created/shown by the various totems for testing and not really happening in present time. Great show - I really did enjoy it.

Well this was a marvelous episode. The humor with the courage from the team especially from J’onn and Kara looking like what the hell is going on was so damn funny. The effects of all the action scenes was truly great too. The totem storyline is really great and a good way to end the show on. Its like Infinity Stones, mother boxes with a new twist really like that. It was great seeing so much focus on Kara in the ep and seeing through her POV witt all These affected by the totem of courage. its what we wanna see from the show in every ep focusing on Kara. Can anyone tell me what ep they began talking about These totems cant seem to remember it ? The next ep looks really exciting too. This show is definitely ending on a high if they keep this up. I only seen 1 or 2 ep that really did not appeal to me and that was definitely last weeks ep with so little of Kara and Supergirl on her own show and the ep with Lena taking up too much time with her Newfoundland storyline.

I wonder if this has to do with the actual green screen setup—usually it employs a fan blowing on Melissa that would be drawing air from it direction where the camera crew would be. Maybe it was a Covid precaution not to do that? As to the gauntlet trial of Kara, if it paralleled Nxyly’s trial then must Kara have the courage to bear her soul? Nxyly had to be brave enough to be vulnerable. I believe that Kara may still have to face her trial in the end and that it why we did not see what the solution was. The episode was a good blend of action, humor and the gradual ramping up of the stakes (another reason why the SuperFriends couldn’t win the first totem—the stakes have to increase from here on out.)

I feel like she saved the plane only because she didn't want to lose her sister and that might be the problem. Where was Supergirl before that? She only became Supergirl because she did not have the courage to let her sister go. Don't get me wrong, like Lena said : "Kara is an epidemic of courage" but anyway, totems always have weird wisdom. I thought for sure Kara would have to face her worst fear again : the Phantom Zone. But it makes sense that loosing her sister would be the worst. Hmm,wonder if Supergirl will be forced into a situation where she has to let Alex go before the end of the series? I mean we know Alex will be fine. She is in the currently filming Flash event for next season of that show but I wonder if Kara will be forced to face this idea in the last part of the season.

But why is Kara only wanting to save her sister a problem for the test of courage? That doesn't really have anything to do with courage. Maybe it has to do with heroism or selflessness but courage?

Yes after the season started strong in regards to Kara and Alex with Alex trying everything to save Kara and the Prom episodes, it feels like their story has essentially been gone since Welcome Back Kara. Especially since this episode flashed back to Kara exposing herself to save Alex, and with the trials being used to revisit Kara's past it's particularly saddening that Kara and Alex's relationship was not being used at all. I had some hope for the totem storyline, but so far all I see is shallowness and missed opportunities rather than something that really dives into Kara's character.

And thank God there was that couch scene between Kara & Lena because when I saw Alex and Kelly at the end (like last week), I couldn't believe that they were robbing us (again) of a couch scene with the sisters. It's the last season and besides the Phantom Zone episodes, I don't feel the strong connection between Kara and Alex. Overall, I enjoyed the episode. It was a mix of action, humor and emotions. Plus, nice to see where it all began for Kara by going back to season 1.

I enjoyed the episode. Some of the humor was a little silly at times although I did get a kick out of kryptonian witch possesed Brainy. The trials were interesting.Nxly's test made sense to me but I'm not sure how Supergirl was suppsed to pass her test.Should she of played it like she did before and not rescue the guy?Not save the plane and hope the pilot would figure out how not to crash it? It really does feel like Lena was only given magical abilty just so the team had someone magical on there side. The psychic connection between Kara & Nyxly could be interesting and I did like the Kara & Lena couch scene. Don't have much of a opinion on William's story going forward.
