Kara quitting her job at CatCo wasn't a complete surprise, given the stress that she's been under lately, but I find it curious that some people seem to think that this would be a good permanent move for her. So I guess I'll do my usual thing of going against the flow of popular sentiment by saying that it would be nice for her to get her job back after Nyxly and Lex are defeated, which we all know will happen - the only question is how that'll happen. Although I've found Andrea's character to be interesting in many ways, I've always hated how incompetent she is at not being able to tell the huge and crucially important difference between a legitimate new service and social media sites. So if she were to decide to get out of the news business by the end of the show I won't be sorry to see her go. But who would take her place as the new owner? Would Lena buy CatCo back? Maybe there's another way for that to end. I know that this would be a real stretch, but what if Cat Grant were to buy CatCo back from Andera? It would certainly be a 'full circle' way to tie up those loose ends between Cat and Kara. I don't really expect to see that happening, but with all of the speculation that's going on with the ending of the show, no one has brought this up as a possibility, however much of a long-shot it is. I agree with many others that seeing Nia and Maeve finally face each other was way overdue and, given what happened to cause the estrangement, I thought it was very well done. I'm not sure that William knows Kara's secret - yet - but expect that to come out before the end of the show.

Well, now that you've mentioned it... :) ...seems the intro was strategically re-introduced to provide context for where Kara would wind up by the end of the episode. It was actually revisiting a theme from Season Two, wherein Kara originally thought that she 'could have it all', ...only to find out that she COULDN'T, and had to give up Mon-El for the greater good of National City. KET The intro also really brought the nostalgia.Especially so close to the end of the series.

I really liked a lot about this episode. I was thinking Kara would quit or take a leave of absence from Catco to focus on Nyxly. I actually thought Andrea would give her an ultimatum that would result in her quitting. Almost... Nia's reunion with her sister was interesting. I think that needed to happen before the show ends. So glad we are getting a green Brainy. The opening sequence is always welcome. Do they use it when the episode is running a bit short? The current one gives S&L a little plug. I still can't help but wonder if Kara will be part of the Allston. Heading to the home stretch.

Nobody’s mentioned the intro was randomly back. I was not expecting Kara to quit CatCo. It’ll be interesting to see how that plays into Kara’s ending. I believe this is the first time where being Supergirl has caused Kara to truly mess up at CatCo and that may have shaken her. Side note there were a couple of Cat Grant references and those are always appreciated. The Nal sisters story needed some resolution. What Maeve said to Nia in season four was horrible so I’m glad Nia didn’t simply forgive Maeve. Nia has every right to cut her sister out of her life but I’m glad she didn’t just yet. Nia gave Maeve a second chance not because she necessarily deserved it but because cutting someone who you love out of your life hurts many people. You have to feel for their Dad who right or wrong made the decision to keep the fact that Maeve took all their Mom’s things. It is sometimes necessary to cut people out of your life if having them in it causes you more pain than having them out of it. Nia and Maeve may never be as close as they once were, but Nia decided having her sister in her life in some way was what she wanted. TBH I’m not sure if I would have felt the same especially after Maeve tried to take the Totem. I know the writers consulted Nicole on “Reality Bytes” I wonder if they asked her if she thought Nia should’ve walked away from her sister.

Started kind of slow but it quickly picked up and ended strong, IMO. Proved to be riveting, with quite a bit of tension and excitement throughout. Kara's struggle balancing her life as a reporter with being Supergirl was well done and the highlight for me. I too believe that William knows her secret, and I think that she may eventually reveal herself as Supergirl while resuming her reporting duties. We will find out soon! The conflict between Nia and Maeve was also well handled and it came to a very satisfactory conclusion. Quoting jacksc01: "The writers win - I will not be looking for any additional heart to heart talks of any depth or length between Alex & Kara for the remaining episodes. Instead, I will look at the in depth talks that have and probably will continue between Alex & Kelly; Brainy & Nia; William & Kara, Lex & Nyxly. The writers are consistent in lack of sister scenes right to the end." Actually, I think there will be some great Kara/Alex moments yet to come, especially on the final double episode. I think they are getting some of these other conversations wrapped up now, while saving the best for last.

Yes, I agree and will also point out that the writers never used Melissa's extraordinary talent when writing these episodes from the very start. You have in your arsenal a freaking Bazooka locked and loaded. She can act, sing and dance. Would it have hurt to have her singing and dancing to the radio while dusting in her loft? My God, in six years you couldn't come up with anything to showcase her talent? The only time they shot the big gun was in the crossover during season 2 with the music guy. This was without a doubt the best crossover because you had your Mickey Mantle at bat with the bases loaded. And you know what.....She hit a grand slam.

If this was an episode in a continuing series - then I would say it was a good episode - however it is not, it is an episode in an ending series that supposedly centers on SuperGirl. I saw more heart to heart talks between Nia & her sister (in this episode) then I've seen between Alex and Kara all season which would be fine if this show was called "Dreamer & her friends." Alex - I loved the pictures that Esme drew. I liked the one very short "pep talk" between her and her sister. Note: Alex has had more heart to heart talks with Kelly that were longer & more in depth. William - His heart to heart talk was more meaningful for Kara then Alex's was. I think he knows Kara's identity. Andrea - was finally helpful for a change. Her compliments to Kara on her talents tell me that all her firing threats in the past were really just talk. She knows she has a good team. Brainy - At first I wondered why he was being green most of the time until I heard it said that it was because of William being at the Tower. Since William seems to pop into the tower whenever he wants (a real lack of security there -notice SuperGirl was surprise to see him), Brainy will be green most of the time. SuperGirl/Kara - I think this was the turning point when Supergirl realizes her calling being the protector of National City. Of course when she comes to this realization (something that determines the rest of her life), we see that the talk when she determines this is with William and not Alex. The writers win - I will not be looking for any additional heart to heart talks of any depth or length between Alex & Kara for the remaining episodes. Instead, I will look at the in depth talks that have and probably will continue between Alex & Kelly; Brainy & Nia; William & Kara, Lex & Nyxly. The writers are consistent in lack of sister scenes right to the end.

While I think the episode has some shortcomings, to me this one was overall more interesting to me than a lot of the recent ones, mostly because at least touched on some neat topics (like the role of the Superfriends now that they don't work for the government anymore) and with Kara quitting it felt personal, it felt more like actual stakes. I'm still very confused by this whole thread of Kara wanting to bring down Nyxly "at all costs", which seems bound to be the kind of thing that's a bad idea and also still confused by the thread of how Nyxly acquires totems and the ways the heroes kind of fall short sometimes. I was never opposed to this idea, but with the show establishing in the past the Kara revealing her identity makes Alex a target combined with Alex now having a family that might get targetted by Nyxly that seems more questionable than ever. Alex has even more to protect now. Like in the past you could say Alex is a big strong hero, she can take care of herself, but now she has a whole young family to protect.

This one was tough to get through but with the help from some edibles I managed. I'm going to take a page out of Romulus's book and be positive. ;-) I thought this was a very interesting and entertaining episode. I particularly felt that the lighting was jaw dropping and worthy of an award. Not having to see or hear from Nia's sister ever again is a positive. The absence of Kelly and that spoiled little nose picker was a big positive. And I kinda liked Kara's hairdo with the braid on top.

Expected this episode to be an overall setback for the Superfriends, and it was...but it also sets up William as their sole liaison now, which could have deadly consequences. Kara's PTSD continues to flare up as she becomes more filled with anxiety in trying to contain Nyxly's reign of terror throughout the city. Nice callback to Silver Age comics by encasing part of National City underneath a dome, just like Argo City. Nia's reunion with her sister was always going to be fraught with rocky, unresolved issues. KET

Nice to see Hannah James returning for this episode to resolve the Dreamer storyline. Lots of old wounds reopened. Supergirl has been distracted lately with Nyxly and her quitting Catco was her way to keep focused. All this lead to the return of an old enemy since the season premiere.

I did not see the quitting coming. :o That seemed like it would have deserved a bit more. Though I guess with the way those shows work Kara might un-quit rather quickly? (I have a lot of mixed feelings in regards to the role of traditional media vis a vis social media in real life) I agree very much on the disjointedness in these episodes. Anything Lex related just makes me groan at this point (speaking particularly of the next week promo here). I always thought copying over from Superman and making him a primary villain was a big mistake and spoke to lack of creativity but to me this return also just hasn't used him well and I just get annoyed whenever I see him. I wish I could get interested in anything William is doing, but he just feels like a waste of time. They really should have had him find out the secret and contemplate what to do with it like around the previous episode or so, that would have made him a more interesting character. I'm very intrigued by the promo making it look like Nyxly is coming directly after Alex's family. Anybody wonder whether since they know the show is ending they might blow up all the sets they don't need anymore like the Alien bar? Makes me worried about CatCo :o

Again, it was an interesting episode, but it felt a bit disjointed. Some scenes didn't seem to fit and some of the character interactions were add-ons rather than essential (poor Lena's getting the short end of the stick again). In truth, it was a so-so episode. Could have been more cohesive, but at this point it's simply about wrapping up loose threads for the finale.

This was a rough episode IMO but in a good way.I really liked getting resolution between Nia and her sister.I was glad that it was dealt with before the end of the show. But it was a painful process.I felt for Nia the whole time and I really hope things work out with this second chance she's given. Kara,Kara,Kara,I so wanted to give her a hug at the end of tonight's episode .Her situation reminded me a bit of Spider-Man 2.Kara loves being a reporter and I understand why she has to give that up for now but I so hope she finds that balance again where she can be both Kara & Supergirl and not have to sacrifice one for the other.I do think this is setting up getting into why she failed the courage test and I also do wonder if the show is going to take a page from the Superman comics the last few years and have Kara reveal she is Supergirl to the world. The comics have actually handled that storyline well so far IMO with Clark being out as Superman bringing him closer to the people he tries to help(it even inspired one of his enemies to reform) and he is still able to be a reporter for The Daily Planet.I won't get into it but it was a pretty ingenious idea by Perry White that allowed Clark to still be a journalist for The Planet even though everyone knows he's Superman.I could see Andrea having the same sort of idea. I'm still not clear how Lex knows everything about Nyxly and getting the totem or how he pretended to be her but I'm sure next episode will reveal more. Also I loved the beginning where everyone was gushing over Esme's pictures.I so wish we could see more of Kara being a Aunt and J'onn a Grandfather(Brainy is the strange uncle.lol).
